I guess some viral videos can lead to good things.
In the wake of the ‘Harlem Shake’ videos that are turning my facebook newsfeed into a shit storm of college kids who just found trap music, another video is starting to grab attention.
Kai The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker
Kai, a homeless kid living, skating and surfing in California, was picked up by a man after he flagged him down for a hitchhike to Fresno County. The man, obviously mentally unstable swerved into a worker on the side of the road and attempted to attack those running to the wounded man’s aid. Kai beat his driver with a hatchet, knocking him out and potentially saving the lives. Kai was later interviewed by a local Fresno news team. Not censoring himself in the slightest, he went on a tangent about the situation in a comical rant which later went viral on youtube. A few days later, the new station, realizing they had struck gold by interviewing Kai, sought out to milk the situation as much as they could. It appears that Kai, also known as Caleb Lawrence, was called back into the studio and performed a song of his own composition, for the cameras.
Kai is not your average youtube sensation. He is no Antoine Dodson or Chris Crocker. He’s an extremely talented musician. Performing in front of what I can only guess are a few members of KMPH News, the local station, Kai lays out an original song that could easily be heard playing on any alt rock stations. A beautifully composed, grungy folk song laid out with his surprisingly clear yet rough vocals. We can only someone important sees this video that is amounting in views quickly and does something good for this kid.
I liked it so much, I had to covered it myself.
